I know I’m biased… how could I not be? I share my life with this remarkable woman. But bias aside, Corin is one of the most quietly compassionate people I’ve ever known, and it shows in ways that often happen when nobody’s around to see them.

Just a few weeks ago, Corin came home from work and told me about an accident she’d witnessed. A pickup truck hit in an intersection and flipped onto its side. While most people stood back, Corin was already running toward it. She helped the shaken couple inside, stayed with the woman to keep her calm until EMS arrived, and in the process learned they were new to the area and didn’t know anyone. So she offered to drive them home. That’s just what she does… sees people, really sees them, and steps up without hesitation.

It’s not the first time. Earlier this summer, while working her booth at an outdoor market, there was a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle. Corin dropped everything and rushed to the scene. The couple on the bike had taken a hard fall. She knelt beside the injured woman, trying to slow the bleeding from road rash and talking to her until help arrived. A retired RCMP officer drove the husband to the nearby hospital while the ambulance came for the woman… and Corin never left her side.

And those are just the big moments. Most of Corin’s kindness happens in quieter ways. She’s the person who stops when someone sitting on a curb looks unwell. The one who checks on a stranger struggling in the heat when everyone else walks by. She notices things most people miss, and she acts on them.

That’s who Corin is. She doesn’t help because someone’s watching or because there’s anything in it for her. She does it because she can’t not help.

And that, more than anything, is why I think she’s truly fabulous.

  2. I voted for Corin today as well. She is very good looking woman, but way beyond this, it is her attitude, charisma, her smile.

  3. As the husband of a breast cancer survivor I could not pass this up. I’ve added 50 votes to your tally with a contribution to the group. I hope you win!
